To build an effective task management system, I started with extensive user research to identify pain points and understand how professionals manage their daily tasks. Through user interviews and surveys, I found that many individuals struggle with overwhelming to-do lists, lack of proper categorization, and difficulty in tracking upcoming deadlines. Many existing task management tools, while feature-rich, often present an information overload, leading to frustration rather than productivity. The goal was to create a structured yet minimalistic design that enables users to categorize, track, and prioritize their work effortlessly.
The design phase started with wireframing, where I laid out the fundamental structure of the dashboard. I focused on creating a sidebar navigation that allows users to switch between different sections such as “Completed,” “My Task,” “Dashboard,” and “Settings” without friction. The main task display uses a card-based approach, where each task is visually distinguished and categorized using color-coded tags such as Call, Submission, Travel, and Meeting. These tags help users quickly identify and prioritize tasks based on their nature. Additionally, a search bar was placed at the top, enabling users to locate tasks efficiently.
To enhance usability, I introduced a task creation panel on the right side of the interface. Here, users can add new tasks by entering a title, time, location, and description. The design ensures that task creation is straightforward, with minimal input fields to reduce cognitive load. Below this panel, an “Upcoming Deadline” section was integrated, which highlights the most urgent tasks, helping users stay ahead of deadlines. The color-coding of categories was carefully chosen to create visual hierarchy, making it easier for users to scan tasks quickly.
While the initial version of the Yours ToDo dashboard meets the core needs of task management, there are several improvements planned for future iterations. One of the key enhancements will be task filtering and sorting, enabling users to organize tasks based on urgency, category, or completion status. Another addition will be collaborative features, where users can assign tasks to team members and add comments to facilitate teamwork. Dark mode support is also planned to enhance accessibility and cater to user preferences. Additionally, a drag-and-drop task management system will be introduced, allowing users to reorder tasks effortlessly for better workflow management.
